From the days of Prohibition to the present, Guides Inn has remained a beacon of hospitality in the Northwoods. Our legacy lives on in the memories of our patrons and the stories we’ve shared.
1920's
Jim Blaisdel opened the first gin mill in the brown shack behind the Inn; it was there where they stored the moonshine that was brought up on the railroad to serve lumberjacks.
1936
Jesse and Johny built The Guides Inn as it is presently known as their home. Through the years they remodeled it into a bar & restaurant.
1971
Jesse died in 1971. Johny then sold the inn to Hugh Gibson, Bob Flannery and Frank Copeland, which then became known as The Junction.
1972
The Junction was purchased by Gary and Pat Geurts from Green Bay, and was renamed The Guides Inn.
The Inn got its name because of the many fishing guides that frequented The Inn after fishing.
1978

It is completely heartbreaking that this place is closing. It has a rich 40-year history, and people come from all over the country to eat here. We went a week before they are scheduled to close for good. Everything was completely flawless from presentation to taste to variety.
